Agnes Vernell Freeland

Agnes Vernell Freeland, age 93, of Little Rock passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014. Vernell was born May 15, 1921 in Springdale, Arkansas to Demps and Myrtle Fowler. Vernell is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Vernon Estes Freeland. She is survived by her sister, Helen Fowler Blackshire, her son, Byron Freeland and his wife, Betty, her grandchildren, Michael Elizabeth Freeland and Anna Katherine Freeland. Vernell graduated from Springdale High School. She met Estes Freeland while he was attending the University of Arkansas, and they were married for 68 years. Vernell was a homemaker and mother. She was active in the Little Rock Public School PTA, Gardenia Garden Club, and Little Rock Council of Garden Clubs. She was a Sunday school teacher and department director at Immanuel Baptist Church where she was a member for over sixty years. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 1 p.m. A reception with the family will be held immediately after the funeral service.
