Master Chief Richard A. Potter, USN (Retired) age 71, of Jacksonville passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was born May 2, 1943 to the late Harold and Florita Potter. He served in the United States Navy for over 20 years and served during Vietnam, he received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Navy Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal. Mr. Potter later retired from the United States Postal Service. After retirement he enjoyed traveling in his RV, fishing, and spending time with his dogs; Pucky, Peppy, Paco, and Harley. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Potter II. He is survived by his daughter Candi Potter of Cabot, brothers, Larry (Judy) Potter of Alexander, Randall (Mary) Potter of Pennsylvania, one granddaughter, Aarin Waters of Conway, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
