Lt. Colonel Richard C. Kirkpatrick

Lt. Colonel, Richard C. Kirkpatrick, 80, of Batesville, Ark. passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014. Richard was born in Sioux City, Iowa on March 11, 1934. He was the son of Parnell Alfred and Pearl Jean Allen Kirkpatrick. He served his country faithfully and passionately in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Richard said that no achievement in life could ever compare to the day that he met Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in Bangkok, Thailand. Having this relationship and faith in Jesus Christ was the most important inheritance he left his family. His family best remembers him as someone who encouraged and loved them unconditionally. Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne Lorraine Mourer Kirkpatrick; one daughter, Kelly Kirkpatrick Oster of Batesville and her husband Dr. Tim Oster; one son, Kevin Kirkpatrick of Little Rock; two brothers, Stuart Kirkpatrick of Las Vegas, Nev., Jack Kirkpatrick and wife Kerri of Arizona; two sisters, Judy Miloni of Omaha, Neb. and Sally Amquest and her husband Dr. Adrian Almquest of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, Sara Oster of Batesville, Caleb Oster and his wife Brittney of Atlanta, Ga., Katarina Kirkpatrick of Tallahassee, Fla., James Kirkpatrick of Tallahassee, Fla., and Shannen Kirkpatrick of Monterey, Calif.; two great-granddaughters, Mia Oster of Batesville and Aurora Senkel of Monterey, Calif.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Riley Kirkpatrick; his nephew, Jeff Kirkpatrick; and his great-niece, Isabella Miloni. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Batesville with Stacy Reed officiating. There will be a private family burial. There will be no visitation.
