At 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014, Caroline Marie Dellis Howard of Maumelle got her wings and peacefully left this earth to meet God after courageously battling Cancer for over 25 years. She was first and foremost a woman strong in her faith and beliefs. She was the best wife, mother, daughter, and Ma-Ma that anyone could have asked for. She embraced her family and life to the fullest and never took anyone or anything for granted. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, for 47 years, James Donald Howard; her parents, Edwin Lee Dellis and Hazel Marie Dellis; two sisters, Mary Ann Dellis and Anita Hazel Dellis, who died shortly after birth. Caroline Howard graduated from Camden High School, Attended Arkansas Tech University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education and a minor in History. She was an avid collector of many things from dolls to sports memorabilia. She played soft ball for many years in both church and recreational leagues. She took up golf at the request of her husband and learned fairly quickly that golf was not going to be good for the longevity of their marriage. After graduation, she was an educator for 40 plus years with the Arkansas Public School System, Draughon Business College, Capital City Junior College, Florence Crittenton Home, and Arkansas Wage. She was involved in many organizations including: Membership with Highland Methodist Church, St. Luke UMC, St. James UMC, Beta Sigma Phi Iota Chapter, a life member of the Highland United Methodist Women, the Connections Sunday School Class, and the Heart of Arkansas Doll Club. She is survived by a daughter, Tina Marie Whetstone (Allen Whetstone) of Mililani, Hawaii; two sons, Kyle David Howard (Lee Howard) of Maumelle and Eric Brian Howard (Mary Howard) of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, Alexander and Abigail Whetstone of Mililani, Hawaii; Aarin, Kristin, and Lauryn Howard of Little Rock; and Sierra and Savanna Woodham of Maumelle; her Aunts: Bertie Bolding of Little Rock and Sybil Rhodes of Harrison, Arkansas; several cousins, and her three four-legged friends and companions: Priscilla, Misty, and Little Bitz. Caroline Howard will be greatly missed by the countless number of lives that she touched. We ask that everyone who knows Caroline Howard to please join her family in honoring and celebrating her life by attending a memorial service to be held at Highland Valley UMC located at 15524 Chenal Pkwy. in Little Rock on Friday, May 30th, at 12 noon with burial following at Pine Crest Memorial Park located at 7401 Hwy 5 in Alexander. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, May 29th, from 6-8 p.m at Griffin Leggett-Healey & Roth Funeral Home located at 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the Highland Valley United Methodist Hand bell Choir and the Maumelle Humane Society. Honorary pallbearers are: Kyle Howard, Eric Howard, Allen C. Whetstone, IV, Tom Sisolak, Clyde Snider. Please share your memories of Caroline at www.griffinleggett.com.
