Lloyd Olen Satterfield passed away on May 26, 2014. He was born in Mountainburg, Arkansas on June 18, 1931. He was predeceased by his parents Olen and Effie Satterfield. Lloyd is survived by his wife Lou Ellen and his daughters and son-in-law, Janet and John Hundley and Susan Satterfield of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandsons, Bruce Hundley and Joshua Taylor of Little Rock, Arkansas; granddaughter, Melissa and her husband Jason Hays, of Mayflower, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Satterfield and survived by his sister, Gloria Pettygrew of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Lloyd grew up in Mountainburg, played for the Mountainburg Dragon basketball and baseball teams. FFA Club member where Lloyd participated on the dairy judging team, and held the secretary position, in 1948 was awarded the Mennenoeh Memorial Award. After graduating high school, Lloyd and Lou operated their own dairy farm until he was drafted into the army. two years later, Lloyd pursued A BSA degree at the University of Arkansas, College of Agriculture, where he graduated with high honors. Lloyd began as a county extension agent and then went on to a 26 year career at Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation, spending much of his time as Director of Farm Records and Management Service, ultimately rising to District Director of Field Services for eleven counties in southeast Arkansas. Upon retirement, Lloyd and Lou sold their home in Little Rock and purchased a motor home; enjoying all the United States, Canada and several border crossings into Mexico had to offer. Following their 10 years on the road, Lloyd and Lou moved into their newly constructed home in Van Buren in April of 2001. In May of 1960, Lloyd accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and was baptized at the Emanual Baptist Church in Newport, Aransas. He was a very active member in church services and serving as Sunday School Superintendent at the Emanual Baptist Church, The First Baptist Church in Pocahontas, and the Geyer Springs Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. Lloyd was an active member of the Kiwanis Club in New Port and Pocahontas. He was also the director of the youth baseball program in Pocahontas. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the First Baptist church chapel in Van Buren. Burial services will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Little Rock on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 1 p.m. under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1121 East Main Street, Van Buren, Arkansas 72956. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
