Joe Davis, 64, passed away Nov. 7, 2014 in Fort Smith. He was born Jan. 3, 1950 in Little Rock, Ark. to the late H.P. "Joe" Davis and Lucille (Diehl) Davis. Joe attended Little Rock Central High School and was a 1972 graduate of the University of Arkansas, where he served as trainer for the football team. He was employed by ArcBest for 42 years, where he served as director of training and quality awareness. He was a longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America, was passionate about the city of Fort Smith and he was a legend in his own mind! Joe is survived by his wife, Diane; one daughter, Kara Davis of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Brent Davis and his wife Jen, of Pasadena, Md., and their children, Jaycie and Zaylie; two brothers, Norman Davis of Conway, Ark. and Gary Davis and his wife Lisa, of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and one sister, Patti McGill and her husband, Russell of Rogers, Ark. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Oak Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Bob Costner, Matt and Mike Blaylock, Bob Stevenson, Jeremy Prater, Austin Franks and Zan Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Training Department of ArcBest, John Taylor, Joe Martin, Jerry Smith, Dr. Michael Calloway, and Boy Scout Troup #7 of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, from 5:30–7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.
