James Fetter Pettyjohn, 93, of Bryant, passed away November 9, 2014. Born in Imboden, Arkansas to Benjamin Franklin and Emma Forrester Pettyjohn, "P.J." was a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a pilot in the Pacific operations during World War II, and retired in 1965 with the rank of Commander. Graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1952, he retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal as chief of the Quality Control Division after 27 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Peggy Sutter and Wilene Hobler, he is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Pettyjohn; daughter, Sharon Draper of Little Rock; grandchildren, Amanda Draper of Virginia and Erin Draper of Chicago; niece, Karen Kelly and nephew, Ralph Sutter, both of California. The family wishes to thank Charles and Merlyn Haney, Huberta Branigan, and the staffs of Foxridge of Bryant and Gentiva Hospice for all their loving care and support. Graveside services with Military Honors will be Thursday, November 13 at 10 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
