Mr. Lymon "Sip" Rhodes, age 89, of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away, Thursday, November 13, 2014 at his home in Gurdon. Mr. Rhodes was born March 18, 1925, in Luka, Mississippi to William Albert and Ruth Daily Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes served in the Navy during WWII on battleship USS Texas and was retired as a Pot Room Superintendent with Reynolds Metals Company. Mr. Rhodes was a founding member of Red Martin County Club and an avid golfer. Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Tommie Welch Rhodes, son-in-law, Jerry Don Childers, brother, Hammond Rhodes, who died while serving in WWII, and sisters, Sybil Ortner and Celeste Green. Mr. Rhodes is survived by his son, Jackie Rhodes and wife Cindy of Gurdon, daughters, Patricia Childers of Gurdon and Carolyn Rhodes of Conway, sister, Julia Ledbetter of Lakeland, Florida, grandchildren, Stacey Blackard, Jeff Rhodes and Greg Rhodes and wife April, great-grandchildren, Carter Rhodes, Emma Kate Rhodes and Baby Marshmallow, on the way. Visitation for Mr. Rhodes will be 1:30 till 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the Fellowship Hall of the 1st United Methodist Church in Gurdon. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon with Mr. Billy Tarpley officiating.
