Rufus Denton Magoun

Rufus Denton Magoun passed away Nov. 14, 2014 at Davis Life Center. He was born in Harmon, La. on Jan. 3, 1926 to Alma and Kirk Scruggs Magoun. He lived the first 32 years of his life in Vidalia, La. and served three years in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for International Paper in Natchez, Miss. In 1958 he moved his family to Pine Bluff and completed 37 years of service at IP's Pine Bluff Mill. Denton was preceded in death by his wife Doris Magoun and his son Richard Magoun. He is survived by his wife, Margie Magoun; daughter, Dori Galloway (Mike); five step-children; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Denton enjoyed several hobbies. He was an excellent wood worker and a good auto mechanic. He loved helping people and gave hours of his time for that purpose. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son, with Rev. James Watson officiating. Burial will be private.
