Jimmie Louie Doss, 81, of Benton passed away Nov. 20, 2014 in Benton. He was born Aug. 23, 1933 in Garland City, Ark. to the late Louie Morgan and Agness (McMahon) Doss. He was self-employed owner of a Doss Moving & Storage Company, attended of Indian Springs Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Jimmie and Annie Met on a blind date in 1952, the same year that he joined the United States Air Force. They married two years later with $38.00 between the two of them. During their loving marriage of 61 years, they had four children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and had nicknames for them all. He served honorably in the Air Force until 1964, where he ended up in Phoenix Arizona. He opened his first business, Doss Moving and Storage, in 1968 in Sierra Vista, Ariz. He opened and successfully operated the following additional companies: Yucca Moving and Storage in Sierra Vista, Las Cruces Moving and Storage in Las Cruces, Doss Moving and Storage (branch) in Tucson, Thrifty Moving and Storage in Tucson, Huachuca Transfer in Huachuca City and Quality Moving and Storage in Huachuca City. He opened his final branch for Doss Moving and Storage in Little Rock in 2008, before retiring in 2009. He farmed and raised many head of cattle for several years in Elfrida, Ariz. Additionally, for the enjoyment of his grandkids, he raised a large number of hogs and goats. Jim really enjoyed farming and watching his livestock and crops grow. He was also an avid golfer and got out on the course as often as possible. Although he accomplished much over his 81 years, his first love and priority was his family. He always kept a close eye on us all from his comfy recliner, which everyone knew belonged to him and him only. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Wayne Doss, and two sisters, Elsie Conyers and Nancy Shaeffer. He is survived by his wife, Annie Jane (Smith) Doss of Benton; one son, James Morgan "Sam" Don and wife Elizabeth of Benton; three daughters, Theresa Ann Pratt (David, Judy Lou Williams (Glenn) both of Elfrida, Ariz., and Mary Margaret "Ginger" Good (Terry) of Jacksonville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, David Branden Pratt, Annie Lauren Pratt, Lacey Lynn Pratt, Jenna Nicole Pratt, James Robert Doss, Mitchell John Doss, Kristi-Morgan Marie Doss, Jacob Holden Good, Caleb Jackson Good and Samuel Walker Good; four great-grandchildren, Theresa Ann Coronado, Madison Marie Coronado, David Hunter Pratt, Charles Jackson Pratt; two sisters, Betty Faye Lundburg of Sun Lake, Aroz. and Shirley Wood of Tunica, Miss.; one brother, David Doss (Doris) of Turrell, Ark. and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) in Benton. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at 9 a.m. at Indian Springs Baptist Church, with Bro. Tom Williams officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Ark. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmie Doss, Mitchell Doss, Jacob Good, David Pratt, Glenn Williams and Terry Good. Honorary pallbearer is Brandon Pratt.
