Norris Perry Rader, 90, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, November 24, 2014. In his own words, "The Old Goat Died". He was a Navy veteran of World War II, served on the USS Augusta and participated in the D-Day Invasion. He retired from AFCO Steel, an active charter member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Men's Club. Norris was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carmela (Genny) Rader; daughter, Jane Marie Homsley; four brothers, three sisters, and his beloved dog, "Pal". He is survived by two daughters, Patricia "Trish" Wood (Don) of Sherwood and Julie Pozza (Rick) of North Little Rock; son, George Riley Rader, MD (Mary) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and the 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who were especially close to his heart; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, and his life-long childhood friend, Sam M. Ross. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the volunteers at St. Luke Respite Care Program for their service, time and friendship, and to Arkansas Hospice for their wonderful care during his final days. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Respite Care Program, 4106 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 or St. Anne's Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, followed by a Rosary service at 7 p.m., at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home.
