Earl Henry Hietbrink

Earl Henry Hietbrink 84, passed away in Little Rock on Oct. 2, 2014. He was born in Holland, Neb. on April 28, 1930. After assisting his father with the family farm, Earl pursued higher education, obtaining a master's degree in mathematics at the University of Nebraska. Earl then served in the Air Force as First Lieutenant. While stationed in Biloxi, Miss., he met and married Mary Frances, his wife of 53 years. They had three children: Tom, Kathryn, Ann (Dave) Bishop and four grandchildren: Bennett and Ashley Hietbrink, Bailey and John Tyler Bishop. Following his wife's death, Earl married Janet Swanson. Earl had a successful engineering career with General Motors Research Laboratory before retiring to Fairfield Bay, Ark. He was very active in the community, serving as president of the boards of the YMCA/Indianapolis, Peace Lutheran Church Council and Rotary and treasurer of NCAFAE. Earl also served on the EMS squad for 13 years. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and was an avid bridge player. Earl was a gentleman, respected leader and admired by all who knew him. He leaves a big void not only in his family but also in his circle of friends. Earl will always be in the hearts of those who loved him. Earl was preceded in death by Mary Frances and Janet. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolores; his sisters, Marjorie Birt and Lois (Harley) Scott; children and grandchildren. Celebration of Earl's life will be held at Peace Lutheran ELCA Church, Hwy 16, on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Ark.
