Gordon Eugene Seaton

Gordon Eugene Seaton, 84, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was born April 2, 1930 in Bald Knob, son of Garland C. and Thelma Mason Seaton. Mr. Seaton was reared and received his early education in Newport, graduating from Newport High School. After moving to Pine Bluff, he worked for Fox Brothers Hardware as Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President. He retired after 40 years. Mr. Seaton later worked for McFarland Eye Center in Pine Bluff. He was an active member of First Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and past President of the Congregation. Mr. Seaton was also a lifetime member of the Pine Bluff Optimist Club, where he served as President. He also served as Lieutenant Governor of the Arkansas District of Optimist International. Mr. Seaton was preceded in death by his wife, Bilijon Matlock Seaton, whom he married December 27, 1952 in Pine Bluff; his parents; and two brothers, Don and Wallace Seaton. Survivors include two sons, Andrew "Drew" Seaton and his wife, Cindy, of Pine Bluff and Lee Seaton of Fayetteville; brother, Henry Lee "Hank" Seaton of Del City, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Andy Norwin Matlock of Dumas; sister-in-law, May Seaton of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; and four grandchildren, Andrea Seaton Sealy, Ellen Seaton, Andrew Seaton and Matthew Seaton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Mike Snell officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson's. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 3911 S. Hazel Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
