Dorothy Cunningham

Dorothy "Dot" Cunningham passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 3, 1923. She met and married Bill Cunningham, her husband of 62 years, while he was stationed with the Navy in the Great Lakes area at the end of his service during World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by one child, Dottie Mayton and her husband, Bobby; granddaughter, Jodi Rosson and her husband, Scott; grandson Todd Walker; and special friend and help, Gary Rosson, all of Camden, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was an avid sportswoman most of her life. She taught horseback riding while she was still in high school, was on a woman's softball league at Carnes Park, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and taught swimming lessons at Carnes Park for the Red Cross. Her favorite sport, by far, was bowling. She organized teams, had a youth bowling program, and was a team member on several leagues here in Camden. She bowled in State and National tournaments and was inducted into the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame, her proudest accomplishment. She ended her bowling activities at the age of 89. The family would like to thank the staff at Silver Oaks for their care and concern during her stay there. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. There will be a visitation at Proctor Funeral Home on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will have a private burial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. To sign the online guest register visit www.proctorfuneralhome.com.
