Charles E. (Buddy) Smithson, 89, of Benton departed this life into eternal bliss on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. He was born July 29, 1925 in Malvern, Ark. to Jasper and Georgia Smithson. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Buddy loved his family and enjoyed countless hours eating and hanging out with them. He loved his truck and his "black dog" and would drive through town daily checking things out, this tradition continued after the death of his beloved "black dog." Buddy was a well-respected house mover and was in the business until retirement with his beloved brother, Jack Smithson, who survives him. He enjoyed the car business after his retirement. Daddy's strong work ethics and love for his family has been passed on to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jackie Smithson; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Freddy Burton, Charlene and Robin James; granddaughters, Stephanie Hopkins, (Nathan); grandsons, Christian James, (Toni) and Ashley James, (Leanne); great-grandchildren, Bliss Burton, Jaci James, Jax and Paisley Hopkins, Preslie, Hudson and Harper James. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ashby's Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery.
