Tommy Raye Flippo

Tommy Raye Flippo of Hazen passed away at his home after a long battle with C.O.P.D. Tommy was born in Huff, Ark., but grew up in Pleasant Plains, Ark. He was baptized in Flippo Chapel at an early age in Pleasant Plains. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School. He married Linda Priest of De Valls Bluff, Ark., on Dec. 22, 1961. Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Flippo; and his brother, Bobby Lynn Flippo. After working for the city of Hazen for 10 years, he retired because of illness. Tommy leaves behind his wife, Linda; two sons, Tommy Jr. of Hazen and Johnny Flippo and wife, Sherry of Little Rock; two grandsons, Ross Simpson of Fayetteville and Ryan Flippo of Little Rock; his father, Carl Flippo of Batesville; twin sister, Wanda Flippo of Heber Springs; sister, Ruby Gilpatrick and husband, Calvin of Fayetteville; brothers, Carl Flippo of Hot Springs and L.W. Flippo and wife, Lynda of Sommerville, Tenn.; and several loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Plains Cemetery near Bald Knob.
