Robert Hunter Murray

ROBERT HUNTER MURRAY, 86, of Little Rock passed from this Earthly life into eternity on Oct. 19, 2014. He was born in Sheridan to the late David and Gertrude Shoptaw Murray on June 28, 1928. For 40 years, Mr. Murray and his sister, Edna, owned and operated Tabor's Grocery Store at 12th and Woodrow in Little Rock. He was a long-time member of First Church of the Nazarene. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman. He earned certification as a Master Gardener, and he served 10 years in the Navy Reserves. He was a skilled woodworker and artisan. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Baby Boy Murray in 1961; sisters, Edna Tabor and Marie Johnson; brothers, Roy and Dewey Murray; and a niece, Patsy Niswanger. His loving wife of 64 years, Hazel Hightower Murray, remains to cherish his memory. Other survivors include his two daughters, Brenda (Scott) Prater of Paron and Carol (Dale "Hoss") Partridge of Prairie Grove; grandchildren, Phillip Hunter (Tabitha) Prater, Timothy Scott (Rachel) Prater, and Kristina Lanette (Jason) Walsh; great-grandchildren, Garrett Jarvis, Taylor Koder, and AbbyGrace Prater; and many other friends and relatives who will miss him greatly. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m.., Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at Little Rock First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 N Mississippi St., Little Rock, Ark. 72207, (501) 225-6632. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
