Mr. Bevie Lee Machen, age 95, of Forrest City, Arkansas died at his home on Monday, October 27, 2014. Mr. Machen was born January 14, 1919 in Albertville, Alabama. He was the son of James Lee Machen and Betty Black Machen. Mr. Machen was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Veteran of World War II and was a Car Dealer. He was his Sr. Class President at the University of Alabama, past president Forrest City Chamber of Commerce 1966, Arkansas Auto Dealer Association President 1973, Paul Harris Fellow-Forrest City Rotary Club and past president, Scottish Rite Mason and past president Forrest City Country Club. Mr. Machen married Janet Jackson of Harrison, Arkansas in 1946. She survives him along with two daughters, Mary Boyce and Janet Machen both of Little Rock; three sons, Jim Machen and wife Linda, Tommy Machen and wife Judy both of Forrest City; Dr. John M. Machen and wife Janelle of Kingsport, Tennessee. Eleven grandchildren also survive him, Jon Boyce, Robin Everitt, Matt Machen, David Machen, Mark Machen, Elizabeth Machen, Lee Machen, Morgan Machen, Meredith Machen Yates, John Mallory Machen and Steven Machen. Five great-grandchildren survive him, Jackson Boyce, Lawson Boyce, Grace Everitt, Marin Everitt, Kameron Machen and Baby Machen due in April. A brother, Bernard Machen preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Forrest City at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
