Nancy Jane Teeter passed away on October 24, 2014 at the age of 83 in San Marcos, Texas. Nancy was born January 4, 1931 in Douglas, Arkansas, the daughter of Allen and Lucy Lake. She is survived by sisters Johnnye Gray of Crossett, Arkansas, Ann Stewart and husband Frank of Doraville, Georgia, daughter Barbara Johnson and husband Malcolm of Martindale, Texas, grandchildren Edward Johnson and son Lake of Austin, Texas, Collins Johnson and wife Janna and children Brady and Bryndle of Austin, Texas and Evelyn Johnson and son Mason of San Marcos, Texas. Nancy grew up in Pine Bluff Arkansas. After graduating from Pine Bluff High as valedictorian she attended State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas where she met and married Ed Teeter. She became a teacher and spent the next 37 years devoted to her students, teaching first, second, and third grades. Prior to moving to San Marcos to be near family, Nancy and Ed lived in Paragould, Arkansas. They retired from the Paragould school system where Nancy was a first grade teacher and Ed was superintendent of schools. Nancy was also devoted to her church, First Methodist, where she volunteered her time teaching adult and children's Sunday School, led youth groups, served on care teams, bible studies, and worked at the thrift store. She was a member of PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization, an international women's sisterhood whose various projects assist women with their educational goals She enjoyed gardening, especially her herb garden, reading, and needlework. A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who gave so much to her family and others, she will be missed.
