Laurel Ann Evans Pierce, age 65, was welcomed into heaven on Saturday, September 6, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born January 31, 1949 in Roswell, New Mexico to the late Gerone Evans and Opal Evans. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Laurel made friends easily everywhere she went and maintained contact with many. She was an avid bowler and competed with several leagues. She was also a talented artist, singer and musician who loved to share her talents by being very active in choirs, plays, prop making, costume sewing and later becoming a drama and music coach. She was a servant of the Lord and worshiped faithfully at Military Road Baptist Church. Laurel held several job positions over the years however, none were ever as rewarding to her than being a wonderful homemaker. She worked closely with the homeschool system and helped with many of the programs involved in making it so successful. Her beautiful memories will forever be shared by her husband Michael D. Pierce, adoring daughters; Myka Pierce, Krista Holewinske and her husband Jeffery Holewinske; one brother John Evans and his wife Kim, grandchildren; Antonio Morrison, Jewel Holewinske; her most cherished cousin , Christine Watson and her husband Charles; niece Bailey Evans; nephew Garrett Evans; and a number of other relatives and close friends. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. In celebration of her life a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Military Road Baptist Church c/o Scott and Sandy Chadwick Missions in Bulgaria.
