Harold Ray Dabbs

Harold Ray Dabbs 73, of Bryant, Ark. crossed into heaven on Thursday, September 11, 2014. He was born in Glen Rose, Ark. July 25, 1941 and attended Magnet Cove High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Henderson State University and graduated from UAMS School of Pharmacy in 1966. After owning his own pharmacy in Murfreesboro, Ark. during the 70's and 80's he returned to Little Rock to work at the VA and while there earned his Doctorate Degree of Pharmacy at University of Arkansas School of Pharmacy. Harold was truly a lifetime learner always seeking more knowledge to help those around him. Whatever had his interest he was always studying. Harold retired from the VA Hospital in 2009 and was working at St. Vincent Rehab Hospital in Sherwood until mid-2013. Harold was preceded in death by his parents Wade Dabbs, and Effie Warford Dabbs Grinder and foster parents, Coach Jim Goza and Otha Goza Yates. Harold didn't enter this life with a lot of family but he valued and cherished family so much he left this world surrounded by an entire family that loved and will cherish him forever. His wife and best friend Rita Rae Dabbs; his three sons, whom he could not have been more proud, Kevin Dabbs, and his wife Diane of Vilonia, Dr. Steve Dabbs, and his wife Dr. Lori Dabbs of Hot Springs, Dr. Allan Dabbs, and his wife Jill of Bryant; four granddaughters, Emily Machycek, and her husband Dylan, Katie, Reagan, and Hailey, and one grandson Cameron all who absolutely adored their Grandpa "Poppie"; his brother Dale Dabbs, and his wife Phyllis of Jacksonville; foster sister, Linda Goza Golden. and husband James of Texarkana; half-sister Vicky Grinder Cox of Vilonia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 12, 2014 6-8 p.m. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home.
