Aline E. Mobley died September 15, 2014 in Batesville, Arkansas, at the age of 85, after a long period of ill health. Mercifully, she died without pain or fear. She was born in Crossett, Arkansas, April 3, 1929 to George and Winnie Etheridge. She attended Arkansas A&M in Monticello where she met her husband, Freeman Mobley, and was married in 1949. She later graduated from the University of Arkansas. She is pre-deceased by her parents, two sisters, and a brother, and is survived by her husband, Freeman Mobley of Batesville, children: Zack Mobley (Lenora) of Batesville, Mark Mobley (Migdalys) of Clearwater, Florida, and Gay Win Mobley (Bill Redmond) of Pleasant Plains, as well as a sister, Rebecca Hawley of Hot Springs, and three grandchildren. Aline lived her early married life in Batesville, and then followed her husband's career to North Carolina where the family lived for several years. In North Carolina, she was the Director of Financial Aid for the Duke University Medical School. Upon her return to Batesville, she became a teacher in the Batesville School System, and is fondly remembered by numerous students for the positive influence she had on their lives. She also directed the 1980 Census in Independence County, as well as serving on the Planning Commission. She was a gourmet cook and studied cooking in France. Also, she was a skilled bridge player and seldom lost at duplicate. In her later years, she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, Amina, Alita and Ned. Anyone who knew her recognized the sweetness of her spirit. People who deserve God's mercy more than her are few and far between. God rest your soul, Mom. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. There will not be a visitation.
