Bob Byron White, 91, of Kensett, left this life for his Heavenly Home September 17, 2014. He was born May 11, 1923, to John Paul White and Dallice Crawford White in Kensett, Arkansas. Mr. White is survived by his loving wife of 70 years and 9 months, Carroline Gentry White; daughter, Katie White Barnett and husband, Danny Barnett, of Searcy, Arkansas; granddaughter, Rebekah Martin and husband, Grant Martin of Maumelle, Arkansas; grandson, Daniel Barnett and wife Christy of Searcy, Arkansas; sister, Polly White Loibner of Bryant, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Marjorie Gentry Williams of Kensett, Arkansas; five great grandchildren, Kaleb Barnett, Conner Barnett, Chloe Martin, Mollie Barnett, and Luke Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and John White; and a sister, Sybil White Rains. Mr. White was a World War II Veteran. He served 3 1/2 years in the United States Coast Guard. Mr. White was a life-long, active member of the Kensett United Methodist Church. He was a truly faithful Christian, loved God and his fellow man. Mr. White was a dedicated member of the Kensett Masonic Lodge for 53 years. He served in every office numerous times and was a great example for other men and Masons. He belonged to the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry where he received the recognition of 32º KCCH. Mr. White was a member of the Kensett Order of the Eastern Star for 52 years and the Pangburn Order of the Eastern Star. He served as Worthy Patron numerous times in both. Mr. White spent his life working on the farm on which he grew up. After the war, he and his wife made their home on the farm which they purchased from his parents and surrounding land owners to complete their farm which is still in operation today. He was a very successful and respected farmer who was always discovering new and better ways to grow his crops. At the age of 89 he would still drive the tractor and till the soil. Mr. White also worked as a fire plow operator for Arkansas Forestry Commission. He retired after more than 25 years of service. Mr. White was a loving, peaceful person. He cherished his family and treasured his five great grandchildren who called him "Bobby". He was a true gentleman in every way. He tried to live by the Golden Rule and the Serenity Prayer with a very strong faith in God. To the family, he left a legacy of love, kindness, morality, honesty, faith, hard work, pride and much more. The world is more beautiful because he was here. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. in the Kensett United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral home in Searcy, Arkansas on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Kensett United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 688, Kensett, Ark. 72082.
