Edward "Ed" Aslin

Mr.Edward "Ed" Aslin, age 96 of Hope, Arkansas passed away, Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Mr. Aslin was born July 4, 1918 in Denver, Colorado. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hope for over 70 years, retired from Southwestern Bell, a recipient of the Purple Heart serving in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a resident of Oakhaven Community for 51 years, serving as Mayor for several years. He served as Past Chairman of the Hempstead Draft Board for many years. Past member of the Hope Rotary Club and Century Bible Class. His favorite hobby was being a football referee and a bee keeper. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Preceded by his mother; Eunice Urrey Gooch, his first wife; Lena Evans Aslin, and brother, Jake Aslin. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jennie Sue Aslin of Hope, two sons, Eddie Aslin and wife, Carolyn, Ronnie "Red" Smith, wife, Kim all of Hope, daughter; Pam Markham, husband, Scott of Conway, six grandchildren: Matt Aslin, Jake Aslin, Shannon Cook, Shelley Youngblood, Spencer Bailey and Allie Porter, 10 great-grandchildren, one nephew, Palmer Dupuy and two nieces; Pat Jones and Cindy White. In lieu in of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Post Office Box 400 Hope, Ark. 71802 or Rose Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Dennis Ramsey, 600 South Main St., Hope, Ark. 71801. Memorial service, 11 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Hope with Rev. Keenan Williams, Rev. Steve Johnson and Mr. Dennis Ramsey officiating.
