Maggie L. Riggan, 95, of Carthage died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at Sheridan Health Care and Rehab Center in Sheridan. She was born Feb. 1, 1919 in Mist, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Carthage Missionary Baptist Church in Carthage. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Freer and Debbie Lum Freer; husband, Horace J. Riggan; three brothers, Charlie Freer, Billie Joe Freer and James Edward Freer; two sisters, Lavelda Raney and Catherine Hornaday and grandson, Jacob Luzader. She is survived by two daughters and sons- in-law, Marilyn and Dennis Bradley of Hensley, Carol and Paul Luzader of Sheridan; two brothers, J.C. Freer and Earl Freer both of Ivan; three sisters, Annette Temple of Warren, Carolyn Richardson of Menifee, Calif. and Joyce Gray of Fordyce; two sisters-in-law, Joy Sue Freer of Ivan and Vera Wagnon of Warren; one granddaughter, Lindsey Lewallen of Sheridan; two great-grandchildren, AnnaBeth and Emma Lewallen both of Sheridan; caregiver and dear friend, Carolyn Collins of Carthage and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Cemetery C/O Willis Fusilier 412 Hwy 35 N Sheridan, AR 72150. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Benton Funeral Home, with Rev. William Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
