Sherman was in many professional societies, Engineering, Surveying, Public Works, APWA, Flood Plain, and many more. The following is a word from Buddy Villines whom Sherman admired greatly: "Sherman, as Director of Public Works, was a key player in many projects the County completed during the last 17 years. From Bridge replacement to bridge building, it was his skill both as an engineer and an ability to work with people that made him an asset to our citizens. As a friend, he had a gift of humor that brought a laugh to everyone he knew." A memorial service will be Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church.
