J. B. Woods

J.B. (Johnny Ben) Woods, 83, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2015. He was born to the late Lester and Juanita Dale Woods on August 31, 1931 at Zion, Arkansas. J.B. graduated from Sidney High School in 1949. J.B. and his wife, Mary Lois Woods, owned and operated Heights Thriftway Market in Little Rock for many years until his retirement in 1995. J. B. was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. He loved sports and was an avid Arkansas Razorback baseball fan. He enjoyed attending games and in the last few years listened to many games on the radio. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Everett Woods, Dowl Woods, and Charles Woods, and sister, Anna Mae Onstead. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Lois Woods, of Little Rock, a son, Gayle Woods and wife, Debbie, of Rogers, three daughters, Marcia Chaney and husband, David, of Lonoke, Mary Jane Rice and husband, Paul, of Branson, Missouri, and Lynne Woods, of Little Rock, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Wanda James of Coldwater, Mississippi and Faye Robbins of Ft. Smith, many nieces and nephews, and other friends and family members. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark. Visitation will precede the memorial service beginning at Noon, Friday, April 3, 2015, at Rest Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
