Charles Berlon Davis

Charles Berlon Davis of Wynne passed away on April 1st, 2015 at the age of 91. He was born on December 31st, 1923 as the fourth of five children to Ben and Mamie Brawner Davis. Berlon lived his entire life in Cross County, Arkansas. He went off to serve in World War II upon graduation from Wynne High School in 1942. Berlon joined the United States Navy and served on board the USS Long Beach, a Tacoma class frigate that earned 4 battle stars. He entered politics in 1952 and was elected as Cross County's County and Probate Clerk in 1954 for 9 consecutive terms. He was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1966 and entered full time ministry in 1967. He served as the pastor at Wesley Chapel, Forest Chapel, Colt United Methodist Church, Central Chapel, and Ellis Chapel. He founded Truth Ministry in 1983 and taught weekly Bible studies up until the last few months of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife "Hoopie" of 65 years. He leaves a son, Rex, a daughter-in-law, Lisa, and granddaughter Eva, all of Montgomery, Alabama. He was also preceded in death by his parents and four sisters – Lura Blanche Davis Cheatom, Vera Davis McElroy, Mildred Davis Stotts, and Audrie Mae Davis McGlothlin.
