Jerry Neal Sills

Jerry Neal Sills, 67, of Russellville died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born July 2, 1947, in Paris, Ark., to the late Cecil Dewey and Moreo Johnson Sills. He graduated from Marianna High School in 1965. Working nights and weekends at the local Dairy Queen, Jerry put himself through college and graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He met his wife of 21 years, Toni Maria Miller, at Tech. The family soon moved so Jerry could attend Southern Illinois University, where he achieved his Master of Science in Education. In Illinois the couple had their only daughter, Christy Allison Sills. Jerry and his wife returned to Russellville where they spent 15 years working in the Russellville School District. Jerry was a guidance counselor at the high school, and Toni taught English and journalism. Jerry worked in many places throughout his life including Lonoke, Springdale and Little Rock, Ark., as well as Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Cecil Dewey Sills Jr. Survivors include his daughter, one aunt, Julia Ann Taylor and one sister-in-law, Anna Mae Sills. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Durvin Cemetery in Dardanelle with Bro. Chuck Trusty officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Heart Association, Post Office Box 1653, Topeka, Kansas 66601-1653. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle.
