Wayne C. Perryman

Wayne C. Perryman, 85, of Lonoke, Ark., died April 3, 2015 in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born Dec. 18, 1929 in Salem, Fulton County, Ark. to Clyde and Susan Moser Perryman. He graduated from Salem High School and attended Arkansas State University. Mr. Perryman served as Executive Director of the Ouachita County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), currently known as Farm Services Agency (FSA). He left that post to serve for several years as administrative assistant to the Honorable David Pryor during Representative Pryor's first term in the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D. C. In 1970, Mr. Perryman returned to Arkansas to serve as Executive Director of ASCS in Lee County, Ark. and later held the same position in Lonoke County, Ark. He then served as Arkansas State Director of Farm Services Agency in Little Rock, Ark. until he retired in 1997. Mr. Perryman was a member of and an Elder in the Lonoke Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of National Association of State and County Office Employees (NASCOE) and served from 1988-1990 as national president of said organization. Serving as president required extensive travel, and he visited the vast majority of the states within the continental United States. Mr. Perryman was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from NASCOE in 1992. He worked to serve the communities in which he lived. In Camden, Ark., he was a member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce and in Lonoke, Ark., he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Another favorite service club was Kiwanis Club. Mr. Perryman was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde V. and Susan Moser Perryman, and a sister, Wilma Lee Perryman. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pauletta Stephens Perryman of Gurdon, Ark., and three children: daughter, Karen Perryman Arant (Richard); daughter, Doris Perryman Green (Michael); and son, Stan Perryman (Barbara Ratcliff), all of Hot Springs, Ark. He is survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Perryman Smith (Robert), and two nephews and one niece. A memorial service will be held at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home at 155 Section Line Road in Hot Springs, Ark., Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Michael Maddox officiating.
