Linda Folsom Wells

Linda Folsom Wells, age 74, died Monday, April 6th at a local hospital. She was born in Little Rock on July 15, 1940. She attended Central High School in 1957 with the "Little Rock 9," and graduated from Hendrix College with a B.A. in Education in 1962. She taught children in multiple grades ranging from pre-kindergarten through 6th grade in Conway, Tampa, Little Rock, and Fort Smith. After raising her children and teaching for many years, she returned to school and earned a Master of Education and a Master of French from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She taught French at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Westark College in Fort Smith. At Westark College she had the privilege of translating the bell tower instructions from French into English. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fort Smith Children's League, and the Hendrix College Half Century Club. She was a former member of the Fort Smith Public School PTA and the Fort Smith Chorale Board. Linda loved travelling with her family to the beach in Destin, Florida and exploring French country sides and cities. She enjoyed reading, cheering for the Razorbacks, and most importantly loving on her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Wohlford, (Charles), and Karen Tlapek, (Charles) and one son, Robert Wells, (Meredith); one sister, Mary Newell Wood, and one daughter-in-law, Shana Wells. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Sarah Wohlford, John Wohlford, (Addy), Rachel Wohlford, John "Jack" Tlapek, Elizabeth Tlapek, Emma Tlapek , Sophia Alexis Wells, Duke Wells, , Baylee Wells, and Noah Wells. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Jack and Mary Frances Folsom, her sister Diana Huddleston and her son, Matthew Stephen Wells. Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 10th, at First United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 200 North 15th, Fort Smith, Ark. 72901, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Discussion Class at FUMC. The family will visit with friends in the Narthex at FUMC following the memorial service.
