Harmon Caril Brown, PhD, 73, of Searcy, Passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015. He was born June 19, 1941 in Grand Blanc, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Lela Brown. Harmon is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ellen Colvin Brown; sons, Stephen Mark Brown and wife Jennifer of Nashville, Tenn. and David Brown of Perryville, Ark.; his daughter, Sarah Brown Woodall and husband Randy of Maumelle, Ark.; his brother, Jim Brown and wife Mary of Searcy, Ark.; his step-mother Lorene Brown of Clarkton, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and multiple cousins and in-laws. Dr. Brown retired as a mathematics professor after 40 years (33 years at Harding University), was a preacher of many years, owner of Brown's Body Shop, district Governor of Civitan Club where he enthusiastically served many years at Special Olympics and a deacon for the College Church of Christ for 30 years. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1959, Harding College in 1963, received his master's degree from MSU, Lansing, Mich. in 1966 and his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Missouri at Rolla, 1972. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy. Funeral services will be Monday 10 a.m. at the College Church of Christ in Searcy. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
