Jimmie D. Thames

The Rev. Jimmie D. Thames, 84, claimed the Resurrection on Monday, April 6, 2015 in Fort Worth. He was born June 13, 1930 to Samuel and Callie Josephine (Holcomb) Thames in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jimmie graduated from the College of the Ozarks in 1953 and from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1956. He was an ordained pastor of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served many congregations. He married his college sweetheart, Laura Self, and they had four children: Taylor Alan, Richard Lee, Jeffery Donald, and Elizabeth. They were married for 26 years until her death in 1978. He married Ailene M. Rushing; they were married for 35 years until her death in 2014. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; and Laura Thames and Ailene Thames. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Thames (Cliff) Allcon, Lana Rushing (Al) Riley, Larry Rushing (Lorraine), Alan Thames (Judy), Richard Thames, Jeff Thames (Angela); 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A joint memorial service for both Jimmie and Ailene Thames will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services Chapel in Rogers, Ark. with a visitation starting at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to: University or the Ozarks, Jimmie D.
