Peggy Mallette Henderson, 81, of Bryant, Ark. accomplished her life's work and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2015. She was born on July 5, 1933 in Murphy, Miss. She is preceded in death by her parents Lena and Jimmie Brewster; husband Rev. Perry W. Henderson and son Rev. Michael (Mike) Henderson. Peggy is survived by daughters, Sabrina (John) Shivley and Anna Beth (Johnny) Mansfield; son, Scott (Candice Henderson); "Adopted" daughter Gail Baxley, all of Bryant; daughter-in-law Rhonda Henderson Dill; sister, Judy Bonner of Bossier City, La. She was the proud grandmother of Michael Henderson, Laura Beth Heck (Justin); Julie Henderson; Jessica Roberts (Seth), Kirklin Smith, Katie Smith, Hailey Henderson, Titus Henderson, Chelsea (Jacob) Gray; Chandler (Haley) Mansfield and Stacia (Zach) Harmon. Great-grandchildren Luke, Jude and Lucy Heck; Lacey Mansfield and Emery Harmon; and by two nieces and one nephew with their families and a host of friends of all ages. As a pastor's wife Peggy always mused, "No matter where Perry had a church, they always seemed to find Peggy a job before we ever moved to town." She taught school in Louisiana and Texas then in Benton and Bryant Ark. where she retired after a total of 38 years. She taught a variety of ages and grades. Peggy would always say she loved teaching middle school grades the best. Although known as a strict teacher, she loved her students, spent extra time tutoring the ones who "tugged" at her heart to make sure they could be successful in life. After retiring from school she worked with her daughter in a Christian Book Store and at the Hallmark store in Bryant. Peggy was an active member of Indian Springs Baptist Church where she taught the Naomi Sunday School Class for about eighteen years, participated in the Women's Ministry and Senior Adult Ministry. No matter where she went or what Peggy was involved in, she was the life of the party and you never knew what she was going to say or do! Her presence on the XYZ Senior Adult Trips will certainly be missed. Peggy was an avid reader, loved music and loved to travel. A celebration of her life will held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, 10 a.m. at Indian Springs Baptist Church with pastors Tom Williams and Don Chancellor and burial at 4 p.m. at Christ Cemetery in Bastrop, La. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton, Ark. Memorials may be made to Indian Springs Baptist Church. On line guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
