Mollie Hopson (Brittenum) Duncan, 93, died Thursday, April 9, at her home in Sherwood, Ark. Mrs. Duncan was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Brinkley, Ark., to F. Roger Brittenum and Mollie Fontane (Hopson) Brittenum of Marshall County in northern Mississippi. She graduated from Brinkley High School in 1939 and later attended Southern State University in Magnolia. She married James Weldon Duncan of Brinkley in May 1947. He died on Christmas Day of 1996. Mrs. Duncan worked at Memorial Hospital in North Little Rock, Ark., for 25 years. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Ark. She is survived by a sister, Fonta Conway of Henderson, Texas, and four children and their spouses: James Andrew Duncan (Karen), of Eugene, Ore.; Martha Hopson Duncan Carter (Harry), of Cortland, Ill.; Joseph Houston Duncan (Clarice), of Summerville, Ore. and William Huie Duncan (Nora), of Laguna Vista, Texas. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Augusta Greene of Holly Springs, Miss., and four brothers: Roger Brittenum of Brinkley; John Greenlee Brittenum of Lake Placid, Fla.; D. E. Brittenum of Russellville, Ark.; and William N. Brittenum of North Little Rock, Ark. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 1208 West Main, Jacksonville, Ark. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs, Miss. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Mission Fund.
