David Sherman

David Sherman, 87, of Newport departed this life Wednesday, April 15, 2015. He was born August 2, 1927 to Ernest Lyle and Nettie (Goldsmith) Sherman. Mr. Sherman was a member of Newport Pentecostal Church of God, retired manager from the Newport Water Company, past Sunday School Superintendent of Newport Pentecostal Church of God, past treasurer of Kiwanis Club, WWII Army Veteran and served in Korea. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, mechanics and loved his church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorine Sherman; one son, David Sherman Jr.; three brothers, Jonas Sherman, Burton Sherman, and Roy Sherman, and two sisters, Mary Ferrell and Naomi Olsen. His survivors are two sons, Buddy Sherman Sr. and wife Becky of Batesville, and Buddy Sherman Jr. of Newport; one daughter, Brenda Brady and husband David of Newark; two sisters, Nellie Quade of Maryland and Pearl Flemming of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Rachele Jeanbaptist, Shane Comer, Robin Wages, Andrew Sherman, Matthew Sherman, David Brady, Jr., and Amanda Weings, and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Newport Pentecostal Church. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015.
