Boyce Dewane "Dee" Helms died peacefully in Searcy, Ark. on April 16, 2015. Boyce Dee is survived by his beautiful, loving wife of 55 years, V. Joan Waddill Helms; his children, Dee Anne Helms Palmer (Mike) of Glen Allen, Va. and Russ Franklin Helms (Linda) of Brisbane, Australia; his grandchildren, Nicole Mount (Eric) of Searcy, Tyler Reece of Malvern, Pa., Meredith Dee Palmer of Glen Allen, Va., Caroline Palmer of Glen Allen, Va.; his great-grandchildren, Reece Mount and Chloe Mount; and many close relatives. Boyce was born in Jackson County, Ark. on June 27, 1937 to Earl and Chloe Helms. He graduated from Tuckerman High School in 1955, Harding College in 1959 and in 1961 from the University of Arkansas with a Masters degree in chemistry. Boyce spent most of his career at Air Products and Chemicals. This took him to Florida, Texas and Kentucky where he met and influenced many people. He worked closely with many regulatory governmental agencies and received recognition for such. Boyce served as an elder or a deacon in the church most of his life. Boyce loved people and always had a story. A celebration of his life will be at the Powell Funeral Home in Searcy on Sunday, April 19 from 2-4, visitation, and Monday, April 29 at 10, funeral, at the West Side Church of Christ, burial in Newport.
