James (Jim) Lealon Horn, 74, of Camden, Arkansas, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at his home, following a brief illness. Mr. Horn was born on July 19, 1940 in Ashdown, Ark. to the late Aubrey L. and Frances M. Horn. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Naval Destroyer, USS Agerholm from 1960 – 1964. He then returned to Arkansas where he began his career in the Defense Industry in Texarkana, Texas, as a mechanical engineer specializing in the field of munitions and explosives. Later relocating to Camden, Arkansas, he continued in this work until his retirement from Spectra Technology in Camden, Ark., in 2006. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Joyce Horn; three daughters, Robyn Horn of Little Rock, Jennifer Horn of Camden, Leslie Garner and her husband, Josh of Camden; two grandchildren, Addison Horn and Jett Garner; two brothers Robert Horn of Ashdown, and John Ed Horn of Keller, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Horn was preceded in death by one sister, Bettye Jo Hart, and three brothers, Billy Dean Horn, Aubrey Horn, and Richard Penson Horn. Mr. Horn enjoyed the outdoors: fishing, hunting, and coaching softball. In his later years, his passion became the game of golf. The lore at the Camden Country Club was that he played 72 holes a day even on the hottest days of summer. He was known as a great friend by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. His life revolved around his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren. It was there he left his most important legacy –in his words, matters of the heart. He loved them, and they loved him back.
