MARY LOUISE BROOKS (Lu Lu), 88, of Little Rock, died peacefully in her home on April 13, 2015. She was a lifelong resident of Little Rock where she was raised by her parents, Vernon and Cora Robken. She worked at Western Union and was an Administrative Assistant at Central High School. Along with her late husband, John, Lu Lu owned and managed A-1 Window Service, Brooks Swim School and Brooks Pool Company. When most people were thinking of retirement, she began ice skating and competed in events all across the country, winning numerous awards. She also competed in the first Mrs. Arkansas Pageant in Little Rock in 1978. Lu Lu was greatly loved and her witty charm will be missed by all. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, John Miller Brooks and her sister, Patricia Robken Holloway, she is survived by her children, Tish Weiner (Al) of Houston, Ark., Clyde Brooks (Marcie) of Little Rock, Layne Brooks Brett (Pat) of Virginia Beach, Va. and John M. Brooks, Jr. (Cambre) of Fayetteville; brother, Russell Robken of Midland, Texas; sister, Hazel Louise Garrett of Bryant; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial for Lu Lu will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Little Rock Dog Training Club, P.O.
