RUTH HAZELDEAN STARR, 86, of North Little Rock, departed her family and earthly home to reside with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2015. Her beloved husband of 67 years, Lefty, was there to greet her. Hazel is survived by her children, Deborah Starr; Everet Starr Jr. (Denise); and David Starr (Sally) of Denver, Colo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Andrew Watt (Nicole); Katy (Watt) Norton; Wesley Paoletti of Fredericksburg, Va.; Maile Starr of Denver; Kyle Starr of Denver and one great grandchild, Tyler Norton of Cameron, Mo.; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to her husband, Lefty Starr, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Evans and Jennie Bennett, and sisters Maxine Hart, Shirley McCray and Marion Gazaway. When Lefty proposed to Hazel, she agreed to marry him only if he took her to China. In the course of Lefty's career in serving his country as a member of our armed forces, Hazel got to see China and many more countries that most people can only imagine. Their life together was filled with many adventures and instilled in both a love of travel that they were able to keep fulfilling long into retirement. A visitation and celebration of Hazel's life will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock on Monday, April 20, 2015. The visitation will commence at 10 a.m. and the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will begin at 12 p.m. and will be held at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock, where Hazel will be reunited with her husband for eternity.
