Wanda Mae Hunter

FAYETTEVILLE---Wanda Mae Hunter, 77, died April 18, 2015 at North Hills Life Care and Rehab in Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 26, 1937 in Hot Springs, daughter of Roy Clifton Dorris and Ruby Elizabeth Dorris. She attended Garland County Community College in Hot Springs. After receiving an associate degree, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Texas Christian University. She lived in Fort Worth until 2004 when she moved to Fayetteville. Her passions included writing and playing piano. In her later years, she also devoted her time to the rescue of homeless cats. She was preceeded in death by her parents; an infant son, Shawn Lynn Hunter; two sisters, Joye Goslee and Darlene Dorris; and three brothers, Donald Dorris, Lester Dorris, and Roy "Junior"Dorris. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sharon Hunter; her daughter and son-in-law, Shana and Everett McBee; her brother, Boyce "Butch" Dorris; two grandchildren, Keith Hunter and Allyson Hunter; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her children would like to thank the entire staff of North Hills Life Care and Rehab for the loving and excellent care they provided to her during her year long stay there. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Gardens at 1728 Mission Boulevard in Fayetteville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Ozarks at 1020 South One Mile Road, Fayetteville, AR 72704.
