Betty Carol was school district treasurer and secretary to the Superintendent of Huntsville Schools for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville since 1942. Betty Carol brought seven children into this world and loved each one of them equally. She was honest, caring and loved to laugh. She loved food or all kinds but grilled cheese sandwiches were a favorite as a young child at her Daddy's cafe'. She also loved Lavada's potato salad, Jana's anything (cause anything Jana made was great to Betty Carol), or just a big pot of homemade soup. All were just good times as long as it was combined with family and friends. She is survived by three sons, Alan Scates and wife Shauna of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Mark Scates and wife Georgia of Henefer, Utah, and Cory Scates and wife Lydia of Springdale, Arkansas; three daughters, Diane Cox and husband Terry of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Lavada Parker and husband Danny of Huntsville, Arkansas and Jana Ramirez and husband Gilbert of Huntsville; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Arkansas with Pastor Jack McCarty officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Children's Program or to Gideon's International. To sign the online guestbook, visit www.wassonfuneralhome.com. Betty Carol donated her body to UAMS for medical research. We all will continue on due to the love and giving spirit of our Mom.
