Melvin W. Pace

Melvin W. Pace died peacefully at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale Arkansas on April 18, 2015. Born February 7, 1923 in Wichita Kansas to Lonnie Ross and Salina Pace. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold and Charles Pace and son Lonnie Ross Pace. A WWII vet, Melvin served in the Pacific aboard the LST 694. He was an electrician by trade and worked for 30 years at the International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island Illinois. He and his wife of almost 69 years, Carol (Hammond) settled in Milan Illinois before retiring and moving to Flippin, Arkansas in 1977 and then to Springdale in 1995. While he was at Farmall he served as president of the IBEW 1307 and while living in Flippin he was a volunteer fireman for 12 years. After moving to Springdale he and Carol joined and became very active in the Wesley Methodist church where he served as treasurer before joining Elm Springs Methodist Church. He was and avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with his wife and his brothers and their wives. Melvin is lovingly remembered by his wife Carol of Springdale, his children Donna Rowe and husband Warren of Siloam Springs, Diana Redmond of Concord NH, Michael Pace of Milan Ill, Alice Pace and husband Ned Quist of Warwick RI. as well as an honorary daughter Pat Couch of Tontitown. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation was chosen and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on May 30 at 2 p.m. at Elm Springs United Methodist Church Chapel, Elm Springs as well as one planned at for June 1 at 2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline Illinois where he will be interred.
