Ferrell Ray Griffin

Ferrell Ray Griffin, 73, of Searcy, passed away from this life on April 21, 2015. He was born in Greenwood, Ark. on March 29, 1942, to Jewel and Harold Griffin. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1959. He then attended Harding College where he was on the school's first football team. Because of his success on the field, he was named AllAIC in 1962. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963. While attending Harding, he met Georganne Hunter of Searcy. The couple married in 1963. After graduating from Harding, Ray worked for Fisher Scientific Company for 40 years and was named Outstanding Salesman in 1970. Ray was an active member of Downtown Church of Christ for over 50 years where he loved teaching Bible class as well as serving the congregation as a deacon. Ray was an avid sports fan, following the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Searcy Lions, the Harding Academy Wildcats and Harding University Bison teams. He was a member of the Optimist Club, and he coached many youth league teams throughout the years. He was a devoted, faithful husband for 52 years and a beloved daddy of Kim Griffin Mote (Roddy) of Searcy, Steven Griffin (Wendy) of Birmingham, Ala., the late Lori Griffin Newby (Jon) of Searcy, and Chad Griffin (Wesley) of Searcy. He also leaves behind 14 granddadloving grandchildren; Taylor Mote Reely (Kelsey), Tory Mote, Ty Mote, Grant Griffin, Clark Griffin, Heath Griffin, Trent Griffin, Ally Newby, Griffin Newby, Kohl Griffin, Hunter Griffin, Sims Griffin and George Griffin. He is also survived by a sister Laverne Griffin, a brother, Bill Griffin (Sharon) and a brother Ron Griffin (Betty), all of Greenwood, Ark. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Downtown Church of Christ Family Life Center. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 24, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Roller Daniel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to the Child Safety Center in Searcy or Searcy Children's Home.
