Marcia May Stratton

Marcia May Perkins Stratton, 73, died April 20, 2015, at Willard Walker Home, Washington Regional Hospice, Fayetteville, of an extended debilitating illness. She was born September 2, 1941, at Fayetteville, Arkansas, the daughter of Rex and Georgia Graves Perkins. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her only sibling, Carole Perkins Brooks. As a child, she enjoyed hunting with her father and discussing matters he faced in court as the region's preeminent trial attorney. She attended Fayetteville schools until moving to Memphis, Tennessee in 1957 at the time of her marriage to Herbert Stratton. The couple later relocated to Little Rock where Marcia pursued a career in real estate. In 1995, she moved back to Fayetteville to care for her mother and to work as a substitute teacher. After her mother's death in 1998, she moved to Maumelle and engaged in real estate management until again returning to Fayetteville. Her last major accomplishment was her joyful contribution to the biography of her father. Known for her sharp wit and astute view of the world, Marcia treasured her family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed dining out. She is survived by her son Paul Warren Stratton of Memphis and his daughter Ashley Stratton; a niece Karen Brooks and nephew Mike Brooks; and her longtime partner and business associate Johnny Cook. A private memorial is planned. Arrangements by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, 479-444-3456, 1640 S. Armstrong, Fayetteville 72701.
