David Scott Shambaugh

David Scott Shambaugh, 59, of Cabot, died Friday, April 24, 2015. He was born Jan. 15, 1956 in Wiesbaden, Germany to Dolores "Dee" Elwood Sloan and the late Donald Shambaugh. Mr. Shambaugh proudly served his country for 26 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a First Sergeant in 2001. In the Air Force he worked on many special projects and was well respected and admired by his peers and leadership. Mr. Shambaugh was a proud member of VFW Post 4548 in Jacksonville and went above and beyond to help fellow veterans. He was an outstanding father, a quiet, private man with a big heart, an outstanding cook and skilled woodcrafter. He was an accomplished outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Shambaugh is survived by his wife, Hilary Morton Shambaugh; his children, Dustan Scott Shambaugh, Kayla Angele Grasso and Kari Ashley Shambaugh, all of Nevada; his step-children, Jason Richard Topliss and Matthew Ryan Topliss, both of California; his mother, Dee Sloan of Virginia Beach; his brother, Keith Shambaugh of Florida; and eight grandchildren.
