Douglas Chism

Douglas Chism 76, formerly of North Little Rock, passed away March, 27, 2015 in Tennessee. He was preceded by father Silas Chisam, mother Martha and three sisters. Douglas is survived by wife of 56 years, Janet Johnson Chisam, two daughters Mila (Derek) Povah, Wendi Chisam; two sons Darren, Tracey Chisam; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren, one sister Mary Lee (Donnie) Schultz and relatives Roy & Nell Chisam of Tennessee. Douglas retired after 32 years from Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroads while at same time becoming a first USA Caucasian Grand Master in Shotokan Karate (JKA) with a 8th degree black belt. Doug's instructor, T. Mori, a world champion in kata and kumite now living in Japan sent Doug this message, "I planted the seed of karate in Arkansas, you watered it, and it has grown into a flower."
