Leroy Lorenzo Patton

Leroy Lorenzo Patton, better known as Mike Patton-Springdale, Ark.-formerly of Wheaton, Mo., passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born near Stella, Mo., August 5, 1922, the son of Elma Dora (Nicely) and Lorenzo Dow Patton. Mike graduated from Stella High School, 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy; three years aboard U.S.S. Murray DD576, a destroyer in the South Pacific during World War II 1942-45. He married Betty Ruth Cooper in Columbus, Kan., Nov. 10, 1945; daughter of Edith (Linton) and Clarence Love Cooper, born Nov. 30, 1925. Betty was a homemaker and helpmate to her husband. Mike was a farmer, truck driver, and well known auctioneer. Both were saved and baptized after they were married and were members of Wheaton First Baptist Church for 35 years. They moved their membership to Prosperity Baptist Church, Rocky Comfort, Mo. in 1989. Mike and Betty built and established their farm home, southeast of Wheaton, where their daughters were born and raised. They lived on the farm 54 years, moving to Springdale in 1999, due to health reasons. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Coy and John Patton; three sisters: Ocie, Evelyn and Dana Patton; and two sons-in-law, Bob Lyall and Larry Robbins. He is survived by his faithful wife, Betty, of 69 1/2 years; two daughters, Cheyrl Lyall of Springdale, Ark. and Joyce (Sallie) Robbins of Shell Knob, Mo.; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: Dana, John, Phoebe, and Sophie Duke; Jill, Jamey, Hannah, and Houston Smithson; Rob, Corie, Jack & Payne Lyall, all of Springdale, Ark.; Deanna Warner of Madison, Ala.; Daniel & Kristopher Warner of Springdale Ark.; Susan, Reiner, Larra, Alexa, Samuel, Landon, Micah, and Morgan Harper all of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; one sister, Claudine Link of Neosho, Mo. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton, Mo. Pastor Reiner Harper will be conducting the services. Burial will be in Rocky Comfort Cemetery at Rocky Comfort, Mo. The family will receive friends from 5,until 7 p.m., Monday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
