Theodore "Ted" Kristian Skarsten

Theodore "Ted" Kristian Skarsten, of Rogers, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 31, 2015. He was born March 24, 1939 to Leif and Goldie Skarsten in Benson, Minn. He was one of 14 children. Ted graduated from Benson High School in 1957. He helped move his family to Southern California in 1961. He married his sweetheart in 1969 and had three children. Ted worked hard his whole life. He worked at Douglas Aircraft in the late 50's making window parts for airplanes. He spent 45 years doing what he loved and that was painting houses. He was able to work with his brothers and nephews painting in California. In 1984, he moved his family to Springdale, Ark. to be close to his wife's family. He enjoyed boating, drowning worms, and camping. You could always count on Ted to tell you the same Norwegian jokes over and over again. He also loved the Norwegian food of Lutefisk and Lefse. The loved ones left behind are his daughter, Kristie Lewis and husband, Rich of Pea Ridge; his son, Jason Skarsten and wife, Lindsey of Rogers; six beautiful grandchildren that he loved; and his good friend and former wife, Marvelle Skarsten of Rogers. He is proceeded in death by wife of 30 years, Patra Skarsten; a son, Erik Skarsten; his parents, Leif and Goldie Skarsten; and brothers: Lyle, Chuck, Mark, Bruce, Wayne, and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be Tuesday, August 4 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Church in Springdale, 1000 N. Gutensohn Rd. A fellowship meal will follow the service. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 W.Walnut, Rogers.
