Phillip Lynn Halladay, 65, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Circle of Life Hospice – Legacy Village surrounded by family. He was born January 30, 1950 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Robert and Iva (Ash) Halladay. Phil was passionate about spreading the Word. Even in his final days, he brought 3 nurses to tears sharing the Good News. Earlier in life, he taught Sunday school and it brought him joy to see classes grow. Phil served as an Army medic in the Vietnam War and received the Army Commendation Medal for heroism. Having suffered from PTSD, he was adamant about teaching others to help them understand the disorder. He loved fishing and bowling, was very athletic in his younger years and loved watching sports as an avid University of Michigan fan. As a retired salesman, he loved interacting and making connections with people. Phil was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Halladay. He is survived by his loving wife Alma; son, Kristopher Beal of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, Elizabeth "Bessie" Williams, with husband Josh, of Houston, Texas and Janna Pettigrew, with husband Wes, of Sulphur, Okla.; brother, David Halladay, with wife Bonnie; sisters, Diane Neibarger and Marsha Stefaniak, with husband George; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, at 9 a.m. with services at 10 a.m., August 10, 2015. The internment will follow at 1 p.m. in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
